Posted on: July 23, 2013
A 74 year old man has been arrested as part of an investigation into alleged abuse of up to 50 pupils at a school in Penshurst for children with behavioural difficulties. Swaylands School is currently part of an investigation by Kent Police.
The man is the fifth person to be detailed by Kent Police in respect of their investigations into “large scale abuse” at Swaylands School between 1967 and 1993.
The investigation into Swaylands School commenced last year after information was passed to Kent Police. Four other men, all arrested on suspicion of the sexual abuse of children, remain on bail. Two men have previously been convicted in 1993 in respect of six sex offences committed against children at Swaylands.
