Rhydygors School Child Abuse Charges

Four face charges of historical child abuse following investigation in Carmarthenshire.
Two men and two women aged between 54 and 71 face charges following an investigation into alleged abuse at Carmarthen children’s home and school. The charges include sexual assault and rape.
It is believed that these charges were linked to Operation Almond. Dyfed Powys police investigation, Operation Almond, looked into allegations of physical and sexual abuse suffered by children at Rhydygors School in Carmarthen between 1976 and 1986 and abuse at Cartref-Y-Gelli between 1986 and 1990.
A 61 year old male from Carmarthenshire, has been charged with nine offences of indecent assault and three offences of attempted indecent assault for abuse that occurred in Carmarthen and Hereford. He is due to appear on 15 June 2017 at Llanelli Magistrates Court.
A 71 year old man from Carmarthenshire, has been served with a summons to appear at Llanelli Magistrates Court on 20 July 2017 for an offence of rape believed to have taken place in the north Wales area.
A 54 year old woman from Essex has been served with a summons to appear at Llanelli Magistrates Court on 31 August 2017 for an offence of indecent assault. The offence allegedly took place in the Carmarthen area.
A 68 year old woman from Carmarthenshire has also been served with a summons for two offences of indecent assault in Carmarthen.
