Public Inquiry Demanded by MP into Telford Abuse

Posted on: March 15, 2018

Tory MP Lucy Allan has demanded an Independent Public Inquiry into child sexual exploitation in Telford.

The Sunday Mirror has reported that it has uncovered Britain’s “worst ever” child grooming scandal, with up to one thousand girls subjected to abuse by grooming gangs over the past 40 years, since the 1980s.

The grooming of children and child sexual exploitation in Telford first made the news in 2012 after seven men, including brothers Ahdel Ali and Mubarek Ali, were imprisoned following investigations by West Merica Police under Operation Chalice. Young female victims were plied with drugs and alcohol, and sold for sex by men who posed as their boyfriends.

Ahdel Ali was sentenced to 18 years in prison, whilst his brother Mubarek Ali was sentenced to a 14 year jail term after being convicted for a number of sexual offences including pimping out young girls to workers at a curry house for sex. The Court heard, during the trial, that the two men systematically groomed young girls for sex.
