Koran Teacher Jailed for Child Abuse
Posted on: July 7, 2017
An 81 year old former Koran teacher has been jailed for 13 years after being convicted of child sex offences.
Mohammed Hajo Sadiq taught for 30 years in Cardiff at the Madina mosque and committed the sexual offences against young girls as a form of punishment.
The Court heard how he took advantage of his position. He was found guilty at Cardiff Crown Court of eight sexual assaults on a child under 13 by touching and six counts of indecent assault.
Mohammed Hajo Sadiq denied the charges against him and blamed “politics” in the mosque for the accusations. In sentencing, Judge Stephen Hopkins QC told Mohammed Hajo Sadiq that “Beneath the veneer there is a dark and deviant side”.
