John Was has been found guilty of 17 counts of historical child abuse.
A three week-long trial at Derby Crown Court has resulted in a jury giving John Wass a whole life sentence for historic child abuse.
The 69 year old male from Chesterfield committed the offences against three different victims dating back to the 1960’s. The charges included sexual assault, sexual exposure and rape.
Derbyshire Police’s public protection unit reported that the detailed investigation lasted two and a half years.
A spokesperson from the NSPCC has said that they hope this case shows other victims of child sexual abuse that they will be listened to, regardless of how many years have passed.
