What will bringing a claim involve?
Uppal Taylor Solicitors are a highly specialised firm of solicitors with vast experience in dealing with claims involving childhood sexual, physical and emotional abuse and maltreatment.
Our role is to advise, help and guide the victim through the litigation minefield towards their desired outcome. The solicitors who deal with this type of work are highly trained in acting for victims of childhood abuse and maltreatment; they will have acted for many victims previously.
Following initial contact, when you will speak with a specialist solicitor and be provided with advice on your options, if you decide to go forward with a claim we will take further information from you and advise you on the best funding option available. We are able to offer funding under the Legal Aid Scheme (Public Funding) or under a Conditional Fee Agreement (No Win, No Fee).
Once funding has been arranged we will begin full investigations into your claim, this will involve taking a witness statement from you and obtaining all relevant records regarding your life. As claims involving childhood abuse and maltreatment involve an element of psychological or psychiatric damage we will arrange for you to be seen by a Consultant Psychiatrist who will provide a report on the abuse and the effects that this has had upon your life; this will be used in support of your claim and will allow us to provide an assessment of likely value.
We will make contact with the Defendants by way of a Letter of Claim once funding has been arranged so that your claim is notified to the Defendants as soon as possible, they can make their investigations and we can protect your limitation position.
